This year, you have the option to opt-out of some tuition fees.
You can see a list of all of these fees in your Mosaic Account by clicking Account Summary in the Student Center, and then
once you've selected the current academic year. You should then see a PDF that has a page similar to this one.
The opt-out period for any of the fees listed as Non-essential Supplementary is within the first few weeks of the Fall term.
However, all of these fees enrich your student life at McMaster in some way, and without your support they simply wouldn't exist. We encourage you to check out the McMaster Student Union's breakdown of any fees labelled MSU or UNI, which you can find here.
We want to help you make an informed decision about your MSS fee by showing you what it gives you access to.
WHAT YOU PAY
As you saw above, the McMaster Science Society has two separate fees that will appear in your Mosaic account.
MSS Academic Fee (Mandatory)
Optional MSS Fee
The MSS Academic fee (labelled as Science Society Tutor/Mentor in your Mosaic Account) helps to fund our free MSS Mentorship and subsidized MSS Tutoring services.
The Optional MSS fee (labelled as Science Society in your Mosaic Account) funds everything else that the MSS does. From Welcome Week to Program Society funding to MacSci Minutes and Quantum Leap, find out more about what this fee funds below.
