Hey MacSci,

My name is Devena and I am the incoming Special Events Planner for the 2020/2021 school year! One of the reasons I chose to apply for the position was due to my passion for event coordination and my dedication to the Faculty of Science at McMaster. During my undergraduate career, I have had the honour of interacting with various groups within the science community and have received great input regarding student interests. I hope to use this input and the connections I have made at McMaster to improve student life on campus and into the virtual semester. Currently, I am in the process of planning the annual I Love Science Day event which will focus on spreading the love of all things science while facilitating student connectivity. In addition, the MacSci Appreciation Night will serve to reward students for their outstanding contributions to the science community throughout the semester. Overall, I am looking forward to planning both traditional MSS special events and incorporating novel ideas to increase student engagement all year long!
