My Year Plan

About Me

Hello! My name is Jake McNairn and I am honored to be your VP Academic for the 2020-2021 academic year. The MSS has had a large impact on my journey as a science student ever since my first welcome week. Through interactions with fellow students, I felt a true sense of community and genuine connectivity unique to McMaster. Each subsequent year only strengthened that connection! Furthermore, I believe that every student should experience that same feeling. Through the actions of the Academic portfolio this year, we hope to ensure this comes true! Aside from MSS activities, you can find me reading, gaming, and searching through countless research papers! Always feel free to reach out to me with questions. I would be more than happy to answer them!

Goals and Projects

(In no particular order)

  1. Streamlining the Mentorship service and expanding student participation with a new matching system, and more academically-focused events.

  2.  Standardizing the tutoring service and ensuring a larger range of tutored courses.

  3. Continuing to put academic advocacy in action in feasible and meaningful ways for science students.
